It has a blade front sight with an open rear adjustable sight. This Commando model is has a pinned compensator for an 18″ barrel length. The frame and receiver are machined from solid steel with a black Parkerized metal finish. The walnut furniture has a durable, painted black finish. It includes one 20-round stick magazine and a black nylon sling.

In 2022, a historical announcement was made to officially select the MCX-SPEAR as the M7 service rifle by the U.S. Army. In combination with the groundbreaking 6.8x51 hybrid ammunition, the MCX-SPEAR has become the pinnacle by which rifle capabilities will be judged.
Capable of muzzle velocities in excess of 3,000 FPS with a 113gr bullet out of a 16” barrel, the MCX-SPEAR rifle is achieving the Army’s goal of advanced performance while also exceeding the requirements for durability.
