New Springfield Armory 1911DS Prodigy™ AOS Handgun W/HEX Dragonfly - 4.25" Match Grade Barrel - 17+1 and 20+1 - 9MM The Prodigy™ from Springfield Armory takes the proven 1911 platform and enhances it with double-stack capacity and a performance-driven feature set. Reconfigured around a double-stack magazine, the Prodigy’s polymer grip module mounts to its forged steel frame offering capacities of 17+1 and 20+1. Optics ready with an ambidextrous safety and picatinny rail the Prodigy combines the most beloved characteristics of the 1911 with modern capacity for unrivaled performance. At the heart of the 9mm Prodigy™ pistol is the expertly engineered double-stack magazine. While still slim enough for a comfortable grip on the pistol, this magazine packs in 17 rounds of 9mm in a low-profile design. In addition, the pistol also comes with a 20-round extended magazine, while an optional 26-rounder is also available. AGENCY OPTIC SYSTEM (AOS) Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the Prodigy employs AOS (Agency Optic System) plates designed exclusively for the 1911 DS. Machined from billet steel, each plate is designed specifically to deliver proper optic height for intuitive sight picture and instant target acquisition and features an integral rear sight. The Prodigy ships with a HEX Dragonfly compatible plate, while additional optic-specific plates are available directly from Springfield-armory.com HEX™ DRAGONFLY The HEX™ Dragonfly™ is our most versatile reflex sight and is perfectly suited for pistol, rifle, and shotgun applications. Manual brightness adjustment of the 3.5 MOA dot offers maximum control and the 16 hour auto-off feature prevents your battery from draining if you accidentally leave it on. Precision machined from 6061 T6 Hardcoat anodized aluminum and outfitted with a scratch resistant, anti-glare glass lens, the HEX Dragonfly is a durable, standard size reflex red dot that delivers lightning-fast target acquisition and faster follow up shots. EXTENDED AMBI THUMB SAFETY To allow use with either hand, the 9mm Prodigy features an extended ambidextrous frame-mounted safety. U-NOTCH SIGHT PICTURE The green fiber optic front sight of the Prodigy pairs with a u-notch rear sight for easy sight alignment. ACCESSORY RAIL The Prodigy features a Picatinny rail on the dustcover of its frame for mounting the accessory of your choice. BLACK CERAKOTE® FINISH For corrosion resistance, the Prodigy features a black Cerakote finish on its metal parts that compliments the black polymer grip module. SKELETONIZED HAMMER The Prodigy employs a skeletonized hammer for fast lock times as well as exceptional ergonomics. FORWARD SLIDE SERRATIONS To allow for easy manipulation of the slide in adverse conditions, the Prodigy features generous slide serrations both front and rear. UNBREAKABLE Not all metal is created equal. The Prodigy™ is built on a rugged and dependable forged slide and frame for maximum strength. Mounted to the steel frame is a high-impact polymer grip module with wraparound Adaptive Grip Texture for positive tactile engagement in any condition. UNRESTRICTED The double stack Prodigy™ features substantial capacity. From its low-profile 17-round magazine to the extended 20-rounder — both included standard with the pistol — the Prodigy will never come up short on capacity. An optional 26-round magazine is also available. 1911 DS magazines are cross compatible with 2011® platforms. MATCH GRADE BULL BARREL Available in two lengths, the Prodigy™ is offered with either a 4.25” or 5” bull barrel made of forged stainless steel with an 11-degree crown.
